So let me get this straight, if she does a joke about lesbians, and she thinks the audience is laughing because they're homophobic, she gets to call them out. But the rest of us who don't get paid to make jokes aren't allowed to react to a joke that we consider homophobic, or racist, or whatever? Because the world needs laughter right now, comedians alone have the right to "cancel" and not be "cancelled." I'm sorry, but all the ranting against cancel culture is as annoying as cancel culture itself. Bottom line: If you put yourself out there, be prepared for potential pushback. Writers are used to it. Comedians need to get used to it too.
