Hi, Derek, I appreciate your measured response, but have you been paying attention? Did you miss the Twitter exchange between Kevin McCarthy and AOC? Search MLK on FB and countless posts will come up from White people invoking MLK to rein in Black people. Anyone with any deep knowledge of MLK’s life realizes that he would support Black Lives Matter, if not the organization, the movement — which is much bigger than the organization and remains the crux of new Black awareness. As White conservatives are doing with the misrepresentation of critical race theory, they are taking the bogeyman approach with BLM, conflating the organization with the movement. And we all know the movement is as terrifying to them as the organization, hence the ridiculous “All lives matter” sloganeering.
