First of all, I wrote this article BEFORE he went on Good Morning America and made that comment to Robin Roberts. Second, I don’t buy what he said for one second — though I’ve never called him out for it in writing. It’s called damage control.

I made an appearance on Good Morning Britain the day after the controversy in which I said, much to the consternation of Piers Morgan, that I do not believe Neeson’s racist actions 40 years ago necessarily make him a racist today. I took a lot of criticism for saying that, but I stand by it. (I posted the interview in my follow-up article a few days later.)

So just as I object to being lumped into the category “black men,” I object being lumped into the category “the media.” I think for myself. Thanks for reading.
