Cancel Culture Vs. Guns
I’ll take cancellation by social media mobs over cancellation by armed White men any day.
Everyone has something to say — and write — about the Kyle Rittenhouse “not guilty” verdict and its frustrating aftermath. I’ve already had my say, and that’s all I’m going to say. Well, that and this: If conservative, right-wing Republicans think dreaded wokeness, cancel culture, Critical Race Theory, and transgender athletes will be the ruin of Western civilization as we know it, that’s because they spend more time wielding guns than staring down the barrel of them.
It’s easy to complain about the evils of cancel culture (which, let’s be real here, tends to affect the affluent and influential more than anyone else) when you don’t have much else dragging you down and threatening not just your livelihood but your life. I’m talking about things like racism, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia. You know, the very things that make cancel culture possible.
